I can not tell you how happy I was to be able to travel this far north and find a cafe serving Mecca coffee. It is a positive sign post that the war on bad coffee is being (slowly but surely) won, even in the more remote parts of Sydney.

While the service wasn’t rushed, and the details of the single origin coffee escaped the Barista, at least they had that option. Better yet, on their menu they recommend it as a long black which is another positive example of educating the public on how coffee can be experienced.

The Kenyan long black that I started off with may have been a little over expressed, but it was an enjoyable cup of coffee. As it cooled down a waft of floral aromas became evident. Wouldn’t have expected the crema to be this broken down in a slowish kinda if cafe, but I take it the barista was by himself and under the pump.

The mac, made with the house blend, was delicious! It had a much wider punch in terms of aroma and flavour, which was also enjoyable. It was certainly a fruity and somewhat tart mac with a perfect amount of milk. Left well satisfied.

So while I wouldn’t come here in a rush, compared to nearby cafes, I believe that the Mecca coffee is a great advantage. Still, it is early days yet for this cafe, but they certainly have a positive future. Absolutely worth checking out if you are in the neighbourhood. (They’re in the arcade behind Pizza Hut).
