What I’ve been drinking – Ethiopian Kochere

Dropping by Pablo & Rusty’s in Gordon to give back a thermos, I figured it was obviously coffee time. The coffee, a doppio of Ethiopian Kochere, was in a word…. “intense”. It was like drinking a really really peaty whisky were you are not quite sure if the intensity is enjoyable or painful. I think… on balance… It is on the side of enjoyable.

Initial impression was of a slightly medicinal, sweet coffee with a whif of ash, underlined by a wet earthy finish. The light touch of acidity and the smooth mouth feel were also pleasant.

Not sure I’d seek out this coffee, but if you happen to see it, you might as well give it a go.
