Trying to make sure I get my coffees in the right order today I have gone straight for the filter coffee. This is another of the in house roasts that Sample have been doing of late and unfortunately in comparison to the El Salvador I had at Salvage Coffee, they just were not in the same league. Perhaps it is much more of the comparison is between that of an Ernesto Menendez El Salvador and a Los Planes Pacamara varietal.
In any case, this coffee seemed quite meek. What I could get out of it was a sour, acidic berry front, with an (as it cooled down) Earl Grey tea finish. It did ted to linger a bit more than I would have liked. All I can say is that Sample have raised the bar so high with the experience of drinking black coffee, that comparing them-self to them-self is almost unfair at times.
